CBD: Commonly Asked Questions

When exploring the world of CBD, many questions probably come to mind including, what is CBD exactly, how does it work, and how do you safely use it? Please see our CBD basics below.

 WHAT IS CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol, is the nonpsychoactive chemical compound extracted from the hemp plant. It adheres to receptors in the body which interact with different systems that can regulate bodily functions. For consumption and topical use, CBD oil is combined with carrier oils or creams. CBD from the hemp plant generally contains only 0.3% THC or less. There is zero THC in The Happy Labs products.

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

The ECS or endocannabinoid system within your body is made up of endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes. Its function is to keep your body at an equilibrium, maintaining a healthy, natural balance. The ECS contains receptors in your brain that CBD attaches to, which can help regulate pain, memory, and anxiety.CBD helps to replenish your natural supply of endocannabinoids, to compensate for any endocannabinoid deficiency. Think of it similar to a daily vitamin, just as your body needs vitamins to function properly, endocannabinoids also keep your system running smoothly.

HOW TO SAFELY SELECT & USE CBD

It is important to research your CBD brand of choice, to ensure that you are consuming a quality product. Verify that the CBD is third party lab tested, and further look up the CBD product batch number found on the bottom of each product. Some companies even share the lab results directly on their website. The CBD company should be reputable and make accurate claims about the levels of THC or CBD found in each product. Full seed to shelf transparency is the best policy.

To find the recommended dosage for CBD, start with a smaller amount to give your body time to absorb and metabolize the CBD. It is important to try the same dosage for a few days before increasing the milligrams per serving. Each body is different, and dosages are determined by a combination of bodyweight, age, and overall health. If you are endocannabinoid deficient you will need to initially take more CBD, then can taper off dosing once your body is back to a healthy level.
