Skincare With Plants + Vitamins: The Topical Benefits

Plants

Naturally sourced, plant botanicals have many restorative and healing benefits for your skin. Some of them include maintaining moisture, healing scarring or damaged tissue, and promoting regeneration to minimize signs of aging.

Some of our favorites are aloe leaf juice which helps with dry skin, eczema, and even sunburns, and avocado fruit oil which is also great for dry skin, is anti-inflammatory, and acts as a protectant from UV rays. Another Happy Labs plant-based ingredient is jojoba seed oil which helps fight oxidative stress and is antibacterial. Lavender flower oil is both anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal, which is detoxifying for the skin. A lesser known plant oil is neem seed oil, which contains so many healing properties. No only can it reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles, it also stimulates collagen production which is great for anti-aging. Rosemary leaf extract is also great for maintaining your skin’s youthfulness, as it is high in antioxidants, and is known for strengthening capillaries in the body. The extract stimulates cell growth to help slow the aging process.

Recent studies also show that CBD can be effective when used topically on your skin, protecting the body’s largest organ. The American Academy of Dermatology found that CBD can help treat skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Those mentioned and additional studies found that anti-inflammatory properties in CBD have calming effects on the skin, and could be a way to treat minor irritation.

Vitamins

The combination of plant botanicals, extracts, CBD, and vitamins create the perfect cocktail for your skin. Vitamin A & C found in rosehip seed oil is known to help reduce skin hyperpigmentation, as Vitamin A is a natural exfoliant or retinol. Promoting dewy glowing skin is possible as this vitamin encourages skin cell turnover. In addition, Vitamin B5  helps the skin retain moisture by acting like a barrier to help reduce water loss. This in turn helps prevent wrinkles and reduce premature signs of aging.

Vitamin C found in rose flower water helps protect the cells and encourage cell regeneration, as an additional source of antioxidants. This vitamin also acts as a defense mechanism by strengthening the skin’s barriers.

Nourishing Vitamin E is naturally found in jojoba seed oil and sunflower seed oil, and helps increase collagen production. This vitamin is particularly useful for treating scars.
